WiFi Force Field

There would obviously be a legislative battle here but this gives folks who would prefer to be safe without a gun a proactive way to protect themselves while not disarming those who want guns. There are basically 2 technical challenges that I see right now.

Controling WiFi

There needs to be a protocol established with rigorous security (encryption and mutual key authentication) that determines who is the dominant WiFi in the area. I would expect some sort of hierarchy like

0 None - all firearms authorized to fire
1 Hotspot - Personal WiFi all individual firearms accepted authorized to fire (potentially carried in gun)
2 Public - Government Controlled All firearms legal for coverage area authorized to fire
3 Commercial - Public commercial spaces from malls to concert venues. Key coded firearms authorized to fire.
4 Residence - Home. Owner authorized firearms allowed to fire.
5 Law Enforcement - Override protection areas on duty.

Bullet Tag

Nano-technolgy would need to be used to control whether a bullet would fire or not dependent on whether authorized by controlling WiFi. The key is to make it affordable enough to place in every bullet. The technology definitely exists the engineering is required to manufacture into every bullet.

FAQ

  1. Won't people just manufacture their own bullets?
    1. Yes they will but
      1. New guns should recognize uncontrolled bullets and not fire
      2. Laws should be enacted to control and monitor bullet manufacture with fines for uncontrolled bullets in controlled and severe punishment for use on uncontrolled bullets in a crime.
  2. How with the police function?
    1. First they should move away from lethal force and adopt non-lethal control tools like their controlling WiFi, tasers and rubber bullets.
    2. Second they should have an override to handle the exception cases.
